Description

1RXS J013724.7-082744 - This deep field is intended to study a particular object which had been discovered earlier in 2022, which is Earendel, the most distant individual star ever observed. It is located at redshift ~6, which means the light dates back to 900 million years after the Big Bang. It is only visible because of a very high gravitational magnification effect. The goal of the study is to not only get to know the star better by confirming its nature and characteristics, but also to study the host galaxy, dubbed the "Sunrise arc".
